The Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission (UPESSC), Prayagraj, has officially issued the notification for conducting the Special Teacher Eligibility Test (Special TET) 2026. This specialized examination is organized under the mandate of the Hon'ble Supreme Court (Civil Appeal No. 1385/2025 and Review Petition Diary No. 53434/2025), which requires all currently serving teachers across primary and upper primary schools to qualify TET before 31 August 2028. Additionally, in compliance with Supreme Court orders in Writ Petition No. 132/2016, this examination will facilitate the qualification of approximately 2,500 Special Educators / Assistant Teachers for Children with Special Needs (CWSN).
School Coverage & Mandatory Professional Credentials
The Special TET 2026 is applicable across state-managed educational establishments for both primary (Classes 1 to 5) and upper primary (Classes 6 to 8) cadres:
- Schools directly run and maintained by the State Government of Uttar Pradesh.

Examination Hall Instructions & Scribe Guidelines
- OMR Pen Requirement: Candidates must bring a Black Ball Point Pen to darken bubbles. Gel pens, pencils, fountain pens, and whitener/correction fluid are prohibited.
- Center Allocation: Candidates must take the test at their assigned district center. Attempting the exam at an unallocated center voids the answer sheet.
