The Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment and Promotion Board (UPPRPB), in conjunction with the Directorate General of Home Guards, Uttar Pradesh, initiated the large-scale enrollment of 41,424 Home Guard volunteers across all 75 districts of the state. Remuneration, Duty Allowance & Disqualification Rules

Home Guard volunteers are engaged on a duty-deployment structure rather than a regular monthly salary scale. Volunteers mobilized for operational duty receive a basic Duty Allowance of ₹600/- per day, supplemented by the prevailing Dearness Allowance (DA) announced by the state government.

Strict Eligibility Conditions: Candidates regularly employed in government, semi-government, or public sector undertakings are barred from enrollment. Anyone with active criminal proceedings in any court, individuals dismissed from state/central services, or those having more than one living spouse are disqualified.

Domicile Requirement: Applicants must be permanent residents of the specific district they apply for, verified through a domicile certificate issued by the District Magistrate or competent revenue authority.

Written Examination Pattern & Syllabus Topics

OMR Based Written Test Structure 100 Questions · 100 Marks · 2 Hours

The written test comprises a single paper of 100 objective-type multiple choice questions carrying 1 mark each. The test is set in bilingual format (Hindi and English), with English prevailing in case of technical discrepancies. Candidates must secure at least 25% marks (25 marks) to avoid elimination. If multi-shift exams are held within any district, equi-percentile normalization is implemented. There is no negative marking.

Physical Efficiency Test (PET Running Standards)

Male Running Event (Qualifying)

Maximum Allowed Time 28 Minutes

Qualifying in nature; no marks awarded. Failure to complete in 28 mins leads to elimination.

Female Running Event (Qualifying)

Target Distance 2.4 Kilometres
Maximum Allowed Time 16 Minutes

Qualifying in nature; no extension is granted under any circumstances, including pregnancy.

Medical Examination & Character Verification Rules

Candidates clearing the written test, DV/PST, and PET undergo fitness testing by a District Medical Board examining:

  • Knock-knees, Bow-legs, Flat-foot, and Varicose veins.
  • Distant and near vision, along with comprehensive testing for Color Blindness (both total and partial).
  • Hearing ability including Rinne's Test, Weber's Test, Vertigo assessment, and speech defects.

Following medical clearance, local police authorities conduct antecedent and character verification before the District Commandant issues formal enrollment orders.

Complete Document Verification (DV) Checklist

  • 10th Class / High School Marksheet & Certificate: Original proof of academic qualification and definitive Date of Birth.
  • District Domicile Certificate: Mandatorily issued by the District Magistrate or authorized Tehsildar establishing home district residence.
  • Caste Certificate (OBC-NCL): State format issued on or after 01.04.2025 up to application closing date (Central formats invalid).
  • Caste Certificate (SC/ST): State format issued on or before the application deadline. Female candidates must produce certificates issued from the father's side.
  • EWS Income & Asset Certificate: Valid for FY 2025-26 based on FY 2024-25 family income below ₹8 Lakhs.
