TSLPRB · Rc No. 189/Rect./Rect.-2/2026
7,112 Uniformed Posts — A Three-Stage Selection Across Police, SPF, Fire, and Prisons
The Telangana State Level Police Recruitment Board has released its advance vacancy notification for 7,112 posts spanning four departments — Police Constables (three variants), Special Protection Force Constables, Fire Fighters, and Prison Warders. This is a three-stage selection: a written screening test, a physical efficiency round, and a final written exam — with no personal interview anywhere in the process. The exact application window will follow in a separate press release, but the eligibility conditions and selection structure are already locked in.
Department-Wise Vacancy Overview
| Department | Post | Posts |
|---|---|---|
| Telangana Police | Police Constable (Civil) | 3,697 |
| Telangana Police | Police Constable (AR) | 1,052 |
| Telangana Police | Police Constable (SAR CPL) | 24 |
| Special Protection Force | Constable | 1,380 |
| Fire, Disaster Response, Emergency & Civil Defence | Fire Fighter | 751 |
| Prisons & Correctional Services | Warder (Male) | 196 |
| Prisons & Correctional Services | Warder (Female) | 12 |
| Total | 7,112 | |
Police Constable (Civil) alone accounts for over half of all posts on offer. Vacancy numbers are tentative and can change without notice at TSLPRB's discretion.
95% of most posts go to local candidates of the same district. Under the Telangana Public Employment (Organization of Local Cadres) Order, 2018, 95% of vacancies for Constable (Civil), Constable (AR), Fire Fighter, and Warder posts are reserved for local candidates of the specific Police District/Commissionerate or Revenue District they're recruited for. Only SAR CPL and SPF Constable posts fall outside this local-cadre restriction.
Stage 1 — Preliminary Written Test (PWT)
| Detail | Value |
|---|---|
| Questions | 200 (Objective, OMR-based) |
| Marks | 200 |
| Duration | 3 Hours |
| Negative Marking | 20% of that question's marks per wrong answer |
Minimum qualifying marks: 30% for OC (including EWS), 25% for BC, and 20% for SC/ST/Ex-servicemen/Home Guards. Papers are set in English-Telugu and English-Urdu; if there's any translation ambiguity, the English version is treated as final.
Stage 2 — Physical Measurement & Physical Efficiency Test
| Event | Requirement |
|---|---|
| Run — Men | 1600m within 7 min 15 sec (9 min 30 sec for Ex-servicemen) |
| Run — Women | 800m within 5 min 20 sec |
| Height — Men | Minimum 167.6cm (160cm for notified Scheduled Tribe/Aboriginal Tribe candidates from specific Agency Area districts) |
| Height — Women | Minimum 152.5cm (150cm for the same relaxation category) |
| Long Jump — Men (General) | Minimum 4 Meters |
| Long Jump — Women | Minimum 2.50 Meters |
| Shot Put — Men (7.26 Kg) | Minimum 6 Meters |
| Shot Put — Women (4 Kg) | Minimum 4 Meters |
Run event is qualifying-only for Post Codes 21, 26, 27, 28. For Post Codes 22 and 25, Run performance earns graded marks that get normalized separately for men and women before being added to the final merit calculation. Long Jump and Shot Put are qualifying in nature across all posts.
Stage 3 — Final Written Examination (FWE)
| Post Codes | Max Marks |
|---|---|
| 21 (PC Civil), 26 (Fire Fighter), 27 & 28 (Warder) | 200 |
| 22 (PC AR), 23 (SAR CPL), 25 (SPF Constable) | 100 |
Duration is 3 hours across all posts. Minimum qualifying marks: 40% for OC (including EWS), 35% for BC, and 30% for SC/ST/Ex-servicemen. Final selection is based strictly on FWE score alone for most posts — except Post Codes 22 and 25, where normalized PET marks also factor into the final common merit list.
Syllabus — Preliminary Written Test
English · Arithmetic · General Science · History of India, Indian Culture, Indian National Movement · Principles of Geography, Indian Geography, Polity and Economy · Current events of national and international importance · Test of Reasoning/Mental Ability · Content specific to the State of Telangana.
Syllabus — Final Written Examination
Covers the same core areas as the Preliminary Test — English, Arithmetic, General Science, History of India, Geography/Polity/Economy, current affairs, and Reasoning/Mental Ability — plus content specific to Telangana. It additionally includes a Personality-focused section drawing on Ethics, Sensitivity to Gender and Weaker Sections, Social Awareness, and Emotional Intelligence.
The English-language questions appear only in English even in the Telugu/Urdu versions of the paper. The Board does not endorse any specific textbook for preparation.
Women's & Special Category Reservation
- Women get 33⅓% horizontal reservation (across every category, including EWS) for Post Codes 21, 25, and 26.
- For Post Code 22 (Direct Recruitment), women's reservation is 10% across every category.
- Special category quotas — Home Guard, Children of Police Personnel, NCC, Children of Deceased/Incapacitated Personnel, and similar — range from 2% to 25% depending on the specific post, and apply only to Telangana local candidates.
- If eligible women candidates aren't available for a reserved post, the vacancy is filled by men of the same category rather than carried forward.
- Special category vacancies that go unfilled are absorbed back into the general open/social category pool for that same recruitment.
Medical & Eyesight Standards
- Required vision: 6/6 (Distant) and 0/5 (Near) in both eyes, on the Snellen scale.
- Each eye must have a full field of vision — colour blindness, squint, or any morbid eye/eyelid condition is disqualifying.
- Conditions like knocking-knees, pigeon chest, flat foot, varicose veins, hammer toes, fractured limbs, decayed teeth, stammering, and hard of hearing are all explicitly disqualifying.
- Candidates are advised to get examined by a Civil Surgeon before applying, to avoid disappointment at a later medical stage.
There's no waiting list in this recruitment. TSLPRB explicitly states that the list of provisionally selected candidates is final, with no sliding or backup list maintained. If a selected candidate's provisional selection is later cancelled — due to adverse antecedents, failing the medical exam, or not joining training — that vacancy simply lapses for this recruitment cycle rather than going to the next-ranked candidate.
One point worth internalising early: this recruitment runs on strict sequencing — you cannot skip or reschedule any stage, and a candidate who fails to appear at any point is automatically disqualified from that point onward. Given how physically demanding Stage 2 is, and how narrow the margins are on qualifying marks at every stage, treating the PET requirements as seriously as the written papers is not optional — many otherwise well-prepared candidates lose out at the physical stage rather than the written one.
