Rourkela Steel Plant is opening its doors to a new batch of apprentices for 2026-27, spanning everything from ITI trades like Fitter and Electrician to engineering diplomas, degrees, and even nursing and paramedical courses. The scale is sizeable — 421 seats for Trade Apprentices alone, plus hundreds more spread across Diploma and Degree-level Graduate/Technician Apprentice roles.

What makes this process a little different from a typical government recruitment is the two-step structure: candidates don't apply to RSP directly. They first register on a central Government of India portal, apply to RSP as an establishment there, and only then walk in for document verification on an assigned date.

Since selection here is purely merit-based — 30% weightage to Class-X marks and 70% to your Degree/Diploma/ITI marks — there's no written test to prepare for. The real work is making sure your documents (leaving certificate, mark sheets, category certificate, Aadhaar-linked bank account) are in order before you show up, since verification happens on the spot with no second chances built into the schedule. It's also worth noting this is training, not employment: RSP has no obligation to offer a job after the one-year apprenticeship ends, and accommodation or travel allowance isn't provided during the training period either.
