RRB Recruitment 2026 Update: Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw chaired a high-level review meeting on the Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) recruitment process on 12 June 2026. Indian Railways provided employment to 43,781 candidates during FY 2025-26, filling a total of 47,084 vacancies across six major categories. These include 18,799 Assistant Loco Pilots (ALP), 14,298 Technicians, 452 Sub-Inspectors, 4,208 Constables, 7,951 Junior Engineers (JE/DMS/CMA), and 1,376 Paramedical staff.
Several recruitment notifications are currently at different stages of the selection process. For NTPC Graduate Level (CEN 05/2024) and NTPC Undergraduate Level (CEN 06/2024), Document Verification is scheduled to begin in May/June 2026. The first-stage CBT examinations for Technician (CEN 02/2025) and Paramedical (CEN 03/2025) were conducted in March 2026, and their results are expected in June 2026. The first-stage CBT for Level-1 (CEN 08/2024 – 32,438 vacancies) and ALP (CEN 01/2025 – 10,970 vacancies) has already been completed. The ALP 2nd Stage CBT is tentatively scheduled for 28 July 2026.
The Railway Minister emphasized that all departmental examinations are now being conducted in Computer Based Test (CBT) mode, and the use of tablet-based testing will be expanded further. Railway recruitment examinations are conducted in 15 languages across multiple cities and shifts to ensure equal opportunities for candidates from all regions. The Annual Recruitment Calendar, which provides quarterly vacancy notifications, has been well received by candidates and has made exam preparation and planning more convenient.
