Merit List Computation & Grade Conversion Rules

1. Absolute Marks vs Grades: If a marksheet contains both marks and grades, only actual marks obtained must be entered. Entering grades instead of marks will lead to application cancellation.

2. Grade-to-Marks Multiplying Factor (9.5): For boards awarding only grades/points, the system converts points using a 9.5 multiplying factor (e.g., A1/10 pts = 95%, A2/9 pts = 85.5%, B1/8 pts = 76%, B2/7 pts = 66.5%, C1/6 pts = 57%, C2/5 pts = 47.5%, D/4 pts = 38%). Candidates must enter points directly; the portal executes the conversion automatically.

3. Special Board Exceptions:

  • Delhi Board of School Education (DBSE): Merit is calculated on percentage; candidates must fill subject-wise percentage rather than grade points.
  • Tamil Nadu State Board (2020-2021 Pass Batch): Awarded a uniform 66.67% automatically by the system upon selecting "Pass".

Tie-Breaking Hierarchy Order:

When two or more candidates obtain identical aggregate percentages, ties are resolved in the following strict sequential priority:

Older Date of Birth > ST Trans-woman > ST Female > SC Trans-woman > SC Female > OBC Trans-woman > OBC Female > EWS Trans-woman > EWS Female > UR Trans-woman > UR Female > ST Trans-male > ST Male > SC Trans-male > SC Male > OBC Trans-male > OBC Male > EWS Trans-male > EWS Male > UR Trans-male > UR Male.
