Importantly, OBC candidates must hold a valid Non-Creamy Layer certificate issued on or after 01 April 2026, valid till the date of interview — an outdated OBC certificate will cost you your reservation benefit. EWS candidates need a certificate valid for financial year 2025-26, covering 2026-27.

SC/ST/PwBD candidates pay a reduced fee of ₹175/- (inclusive of GST), while all other candidates — General, OBC, and EWS — pay ₹850/- (inclusive of GST). Payment is accepted only online via Debit Card, Credit Card, Net Banking, IMPS, Cash Cards, UPI, or Mobile Wallets. Bank transaction charges are borne by the candidate. Once paid, the fee is non-refundable under any circumstances — even if you later discover you are ineligible. After the application window closes, IBPS provides a 2-day Edit Window for corrections, but that window itself charges an additional flat fee of ₹200/- for all categories. The selection happens in three stages. Stage one is the Online Preliminary Examination — a qualifying-only test of 100 questions and 125 marks to be completed in 80 minutes.

Candidates must clear the cut-off in each section to advance. Stage two is the Online Main Examination — where marks actually count. It consists of 150 objective questions of 200 marks (125 minutes) plus a Descriptive Paper of 2 questions and 25 marks (30 minutes) for Law Officer and Rajbhasha Adhikari posts. The Professional Knowledge section in Main carries 100 marks out of 200 and is the most critical component — merit listing is primarily based on this section. There is a penalty of 0.25 marks for every wrong answer in both Preliminary and Main exams, so do not guess randomly. Stage three is the Common Interview — 100 marks total, with a minimum qualifying score of 40% (35% for reserved categories). The final score is calculated as 80% of Main Exam marks + 20% of Interview marks, and provisional allotment to banks is done based on this combined score and the candidate's bank preference order.
